*Candy Cane Lane... It definitely had the classic family Christmas movie vibes of the late 80s to mid 90s. My disappointment and main critique of the film is the angle the writers and the director took for the character "Nick Carver", played by Thaddeus J. Mixson. The parents are approached by his math teacher, and they discover Nick is failing badly in math. During this scene, there was even a cringy, "Save the Last Dance" type scene supposedly showing he's a gifted dancer and musician.
Why? Why couldn't he be a great student as well as a great performer, musician or artist? Shame on the director, Reginald Hudlin @reggiehudlin for moving forward with that idea and script. It's not okay IMO.
Other than that, it was an entertaining Christmas film. I believe kids will enjoy it.
In other news, I wonder if #EddieMurphy has ever considered having his own TV show or sitcom. That would be quite interesting.
